- The Gosman Spoon Co is a home-spun spoon carving company situated deep in the wilds of the Norfolk-Suffolk borderlands of Southern England. Father (Nick) and Daughter (Sophie) have combined their creative talents to produce beautiful wooden spoons of every type you can imagine. Sophie’s style is artistic and curiosity-led, while Nick‘s style is rustic and functional.
The Workshop Involves
- Sharpening axes and knives: techniques & equipment recommendations
- Creation & use of the draw horse & safety chopping block
- Mark out and carve your own eating spoon with a canted bowl
- Aftercare of your spoon which you take away with you!
Course Benefits
- The price for workshops (up to 3 people) is £20 per person for 2 hours.
- Day and timing are by arrangement with the participants. Participants can request more than one block of 2hrs up to a total of 6hrs on a given day.
- Complementary refreshments will be provided, and teas, coffee, and cakes served from the Hedgehog Cafe caravan (situated in our garden).
- Donations are appreciated for refreshments (suggested donation is £3 per person).
- There is no charge for helpers or personal assistants attending to people with disabilities. They have a family member with a physical disability, so the caravan has safety steps and our ground-floor bathroom and front door steps have handrails.
- They also don’t charge for non-participating adults who come with children between 14-17 years old.

- With over 15 years experience of working with wood and a passion for teaching, Wooden Tom will bring out the creative talents of every individual. By limiting the number of people to 6 per course students will get the dedicated time they need, not only to go home with a hand-carved utensil but more importantly, the traditional skills to carry on this ancient craft. Tom provides two types of courses as Half-day and Full day.

A full-day greenwood carving workshop inviting participants to learn the basic skills required to hand-carve small useful objects, with a focus on a traditional wooden spoon. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those with a limited experience in woodcarving.
